If you have ever been keen to try your hand at a triathlon but never knew where or how to start your training, take a look at Finns Recreation Club’s Bali Triathlon Training program for 2015.

Nothing like a Sunday fun run or leisurely afternoon ride, triathlons require dedicated preparation to ensure you perform competitively, achieve your personal best and most importantly finish the race free of injury.

Finns Recreation Club’s twelve week program commences from July 27th and comprises five training sessions per week focusing on the three different elements of triathlons as well as the transition phase occurring between each leg of the race.

Training sessions will be carefully coordinated by three professional coaches, each an expert in their field as well as being experienced and qualified personal trainers.

Luisa Striani, former Olympian and Finns Recreation Club’s head swim coach will focus on training in the pool, building stamina, strength, teaching breath control and improving times. Finns Recreation Club Cycle class regulars would be familiar with Swen de Ruyter; pro basketball player, personal trainer and fitness aficionado who will coach the bicycle leg. Training for the run will be under the watchful eye of fabulous and fit Hanna Lehtovaara, a personal trainer, fitness class coach.

2015’s Bali Triathlon will take place on October 25th which means just over twelve weeks to get your body ship shape. Centred around the Jimbaran area, the race will begin just after sunrise with the swim sector in the tranquil waters of the bay, followed by the bike leg to Nusa Dua, concluding with the road run through to the finish line in the gardens of Bali’s Intercontinental Resort.

For those keen to challenge themselves there is the option of the Olympic distance classification comprising a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run or the Sprint category being a 500m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run.

Whichever category you register for, it is imperative to prepare yourself the best way possible. Signing up for Finns Recreation Club’s dedicated run, swim and cycle training program not only guarantees participants 5 sessions per week, but you will also receive a polar heart rate monitor (FT4), lactate test and full entrance to the October 25th Bali Tri.

Hanna’s an Ambassador for Health & Fitness

hannaBright, blonde, bubbly and full of beans – if ever there was a walking advertisement for health and fitness, Finns Recreation Club personal trainer, Hanna Lehtovaara is it! Hailing originally from Finland, she spent her childhood experiencing different countries and moved to Bali two years ago to continue her pursuit of a healthy lifestyle and to assist others in doing the same.

Fitness for Hanna is an essential part of life and her love for exercise began from a very early age. “I think my first steps were more like running than walking as I was ready to go!”

Like all of the fitness instructors at Finns Recreation Club, Hanna is professionally trained and certified to teach a wide variety of exercise classes. She commenced her training in 2010 at a gym in Finland, where they assisted her in securing her qualifications as a fitness instructor. Hanna is also a qualified instructor in Body Pump, Body Step, Zumba, Cycle, Kettlebell and TRX. I think I may have to have a little lie down just contemplating those!

No rest for Hanna though, her enthusiasm and enjoyment is palpable in every class she teaches. Just walk into a Body Pump class at Finns Recreation Club on any given Wednesday morning (be early, they’re popular!) and you will see a bevy of fitness devotees, bars loaded with weights, ready to follow Hanna’s every move! Or try her Booty and Core class on Thursdays at 9am. Like a smiling assassin, she has the ability to get her subjects to sustain squats and sit ups, all with that dazzling smile, so that they hardly realise their muscles are burning………Until the next day! Thanks Hanna, I will have those abs of steel……. eventually!

In addition to the numerous classes she takes at Finns Recreation Club, Hanna is also an instructor for the Junior Sports Academy as well as a Personal Trainer. She is motivated by her desire to help others find their love for fitness and the right way for them to remain active. As a personal trainer she is passionate about giving her clients the tools they need to find that balance for an active and happy lifestyle; learning about their likes and dislikes and creating a program that motivates them to work hard and have fun at the same time. “There are so many different forms of exercise, so it is important for you to find the one that you enjoy – the one that will keep you going!”
